Welcome to Zion

The earliest roots of our family are seen with God's creative love for our
first parents, Adam and Eve, and the promise of a Savior given to them.
The church has struggled to form and reform itself since that time. It finds its strongest foundation stone laid with the Apostles by our Lord Jesus Christ Himself. It was reformed by the work of a young German parish priest, Martin Luther, in the early 1500s.

This parish is a different ancestor of an immigration movement of Saxon Lutherans which took place in the middle 1800s.

Work in Garrett began as early as 1865 when Lutheran services were held in the homes of individual families. In 1889 the congregation built its first church building. In 1892 the first resident pastor was called. The present fellowship hall and educational wing was dedicated in 1967. Groundbreaking for the present church took place in April of 1978 and the dedication of the new sanctuary took place one year later fulfilling a 90 year old dream.

Zion is a growing church with a positive vision of her future. She has her Lord on her side and is anxious to meet the challenges of His call to follow Him.
